15th Annual Mitzvah Day with Ozone House

Saturday, May 19

Registration is now open (click here)

Our 15th annual Mitzvah Day will be held on Saturday, May 19. This year we will be partnering with Ozone House. Ozone House is a community-based, nonprofit agency that helps young people lead safe, healthy, and productive lives through intensive intervention and prevention services. Since 1969, Ozone House has actively developed unique, high-quality housing and support programs and services that provide support, intervention, training, and assistance to runaway, homeless, and high-risk youth and their families. Through these support services, we help youth develop essential life skills, improve their relationships, and enhance their self-image so that they may realize their full potential for growth and happiness.

We will be working at two of Ozone House's three facilities - the main shelter for youth in Ann Arbor, and the Youth Drop-in Center in Ypsilanti. We will be working on several activities including landscaping, painting, other maintenance, such as cleaning and putting up air conditioners. We will make celebration boxes for youth leaving Ozone in the morning, a task well suited to younger children. There will be plenty to do with a large selection of opportunities to contribute to this important services agency. We are also looking for a co-chair to help out this year.

There will be two sessions: 9-am noon, and 1-4 pm with a lunch and service in between. Registration, lunch and the service will be held at TBE. We will need volunteers to prepare the lunch and do clean-up as well. For additional information about Ozone House see their web site. For additional information about Mitzvah Day contact Deb Schild, the chair at debschild@gmail.com.
